What is TMS?
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is an outpatient, FDA-approved treatment for people with depression who have not seen satisfactory improvement from antidepressant medications that does not require sedation or anesthesia. Using pulsed magnetic fields, TMS treats depression by stimulating the part of the brain believed to be involved in mood regulation. The magnetic pulses are similar to the ones used by a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine, allowing patients to drive themselves home or return to work after receiving TMS therapy.
What is Ketamine/Esketamine (Spravato)?
Ketamine and Esketamine (Spravato) are new alternatives for treating severe depression. Working more quickly than other antidepressants, they have been shown to rapidly reduce suicidal thoughts in many people. Ketamine and Spravato are administered under close medical supervision through a self-administered nasal spray. Our practitioners will show you how to use the nasal spray device and will provide clear instructions on when and how much to take. Ketamine and Spravato can be effective for people who have not found relief with other medications.
